THE REAL ALTERNATIVE TO PLASTIC PACKAGING

EGALSA INTRODUCES NATURLINE, THE CELLULOSE NETTING ALTERNATIVE TO PLASTIC IN PACKAGING.

In recent years, the concern to reduce plastic consumption has led us to create new BIO packaging systems. For this reason, Naturline was created as a further step towards Egalsa’s commitment to the environment. This new sustainable packaging system comes from 100% organic fibers with an environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Cellulose netting thus becomes a real alternative to plastic packaging.

This 100% sustainable packaging allows products from the garden, sea or sausages to be better preserved. This means that products are preserved up to 3 days longer than in conventional packaging. Naturline is a net made of 100% compostable natural fibers, so this cellulose net decomposes in composting systems, biodegrades and returns to the soil. These advantages of cellulose netting make this packaging system the real alternative to non-biodegradable plastic packaging.

The process for the manufacture of Naturline compostable netting is sustainable. The organic fibers are derived from wood from sustainable forests, crushed and water is added. Subsequently, it is compressed to make the fibers. With these cellulose fibers, the yarn is formed and, with it, the netting is woven. Naturline is available in 10 colors and, for this process, the yarn is dyed using a non-polluting process. The dyeing of the yarn is a certified process so that it can be in contact with any foodstuff. After this dyeing process, the netting is woven with 100% organic, tear-resistant, compostable and biodegradable yarn. The cellulose nets can be configured with different light holes according to the characteristics of the product to be packaged.

The netting decomposes in composting systems within 3 months. This allows the process to be circular and sustainable by returning it to the soil. The benefits of this new range of Egalsa products are endless: easy degradation, high resistance, high level of customization, certified manufacturing processes and better image of the packaged product. The use of cellulose netting thus becomes an alternative to plastic that offers more advantages over it.
